Uechi-ryu one of the three original Karate styles originating in Okinawa, the home of Karate. Uechi-ryu is a no nonsense system utilizing hand strikes and low kicks for excellent self defense applications. Uechi-ryu is one of the few systems that have not been "watered" down to make a dollar. It's blackbelts study an average of 8-12 years to achieve their rank in this system. It is one of the most respected and hard earned black belts in the world today. Through the dedication and hard work to achieve the goal lies most of the qualities which people respect and parents want for their children.
The day you or your child earn that belt, will be one of the greatest of their life.

Credentials
Sensei Fred Channell has been training in the arts for over 25 years. In addition to being a 5th degree black belt in Karate, he competes actively in Judo. Competing in the 2001 ,2002 ,2003 Baystate Games. Sensei Fred placed 3rd in Black Belt Masters forms in the Uechi-ryu World Championships and 2nd in weapons. Recently he placed second in Forms at the Baystate Karate Championships. He is a certified Senior Instructor, and a certified tournament official.
His proudest accomplishment is his 2 daughters, straight A students and excellent Karate practitioners, and his many other Champion students. Including 11 other Uechi Junior Grand Champions.
Student Creed
Remembering that the Martial Arts begin and end with respect, I intend to:
1) Develop myself in a positive manner and avoid anything that would reduce my mental growth and physical health.
2) Develop self-discipline in order to bring out the best in myself and in others.
3) Use what I learn in class constructively and defensively to help myself and my fellow man and woman, and never to be abusive or offensive.
